Suspected KB4524244 Boot issue on Inspiron 15 3576 i5
Hi Everyone,
I wonder if anyone else here has had the same issue as me. After KB4524244 (this has now been pulled my MS) was installed.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4524244/security-update-for-windows-10-february-11-2020
My laptop will now not boot up at all, i can access the BIOS and make changes but as soon as i try to boot, repair or reinstall Windows 10 it crashes with a blue screen (different error codes not the same one). I have occasionally managed to start a repair or an uninstall latest update but then it crashes again.
I have also created a USB drive with Windows 10 to attempt a fresh install and this also fails with a blue screen crash.
I have updated to the latest BIOS v1.9 https://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=nymf2&oscode=wt64a&productcode=inspiron-15-3576-laptop
Someone suggested to try and turn off UEFI in the BIOS but it wont let me switch to Legacy and its stuck on UEFI.
I can run the DELL diagnostic and this passes with no errors every time.
As it stands its i have spent 4 evenings trying everything i can think of with no success, does anyone have any ideas?
Regards,
Aleks

Do you see the windows 10 media in Dell Preboot menu ( F12 key)? Also, you downloaded the window 10 media from Microsoft website or from Dell ?

Verify that you are booting off the USB flash drive as stated above. If you are certain that your computer is booting off the USB flash drive and it still crashes with a blue screen, it could be hardware related.

This is the exact reason that MS pulled this update. I would get to MS Support to settle this issue
more information on the KB4524244 Update removal
MS Windows Forum on this issue
Everyone else reading this thread, If the OP had created a backup Image of his OS drive or even just his C: Partition he would be about 15 to 20 minutes to recovering his OS before he installed this Windows Update.
Macrium Reflect Free would have saved him, and any of us with any issue that disables our Operating System.
Tutorial on how to use Macrium Reflect.
Don't like my recommendation, use any of the other products out there. Anyone of them is better than losing your OS and any data on that drive.
This post is the reason why we keep telling people to back up your Data, Back up your OS, there are many things that can and will eventually trash your OS and or Hard drive/SSD. Backups will rescue you every time, whether its Windows Update, malware, virus, Drive Failure, or just making a stupid mistake. Your OS and Data are safe back up on to an external hard drive.
