TPM 2.0

My dell INSPIRON 3583 supports TPM 2.0 But after Formatting windows it shows TPM 1.2  (I have given laptop to the local shop for formatting windows). What could be the reason ?. Please answer as soon as possible. Thanks

I don't think this system has a TPM at all, but the CPU has a TPM workalike called Intel Platform Trust Technology.

You'll have to ask the shop what they did if they reinstalled Windows -- the system needs to be set up with a GPT disc in UEFI compliant mode and you must have a 64-bit version of Windows loaded and secure boot enabled.

The CPU in this model system is new enough that it should support TPM 2.0 workalike functionality.

If I reinstall fresh window then problem can be solved or not?

@ejn63 is spot on about PTT. Make sure it is enabled in the BIOS. Also the 3583 is on the list of supported systems that are Windows 11 compatible so TPM 2.0 is available through PTT as his replies states. Also take note of this line from the Dell TPM page:

Computers that were released after 2019 support TPM firmware 2.0 without an option to downgrade (Systems that shipped with Windows 10 and have limited or no Legacy support).

I doubt it since it is a BIOS issue. Windows will detect TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot but the settings such as PTT are in the BIOS.
