Start with the screen diagnostic.  Hold the D key through powerup.  This will initiate a series of screen self-tests -- if the fault shows there, photograph the fault before contacting Dell support once again.

If the screen shows good self-test images, the next step is a full hardware diagnostic -- press F12 a few times immediately after the power button.  Boot into the diagnostics and run a full set of tests.  Any errors that arise will be in the format 2000-**** along with a validation code.  Record those before contacting support.

Anything more than that is likely a software conflict or a driver issue, which as you've been told, is not covered by the hardware warranty.  Before buying a software support call, restore the system to as-shipped.  If the problem goes away, install whatever programs you need one at a time, testing carefully after each installation to see if the fault re-occurs.  If it does, and it's a third party application, contact the publisher's technical support for assistance.

Hi
Thank you for your advise. But it didn’t fix the issue.
However, please note that the issue doesn’t appear in the second  monitor if connected.

Please give your recommendations  considering that too.

Hi

I am really feeling so disappointed due to this issue.
In replying to my above message, someone from “Your Dell Community Team” has sent me message asking whether the lap was tested with an external screen. I replied “Yes, it is working well with the external monitor.”
Since then, no response received yet.
Could you please check and inform me the solution I should go for?
Kind regards

Weerasiri

I am having the same issues with my screen as it has developed horizontal lines across the full screen.

Was there a fix for this issue?

Hi

After several long review sessions by DELL technical team, finally concluded that it was a problem with the display and should be replaced.  So, I got it replaced from DELL as it was under warranty. Now it is fine and working well.

Hello Abey,

I have the same issue as you with the same machine. With calls into customer support for months and no satisfaction. Hardware checks out, and I've tried a bunch of drivers. How did you convince Dell or what was it that got them to replace your laptop or screen? All very frustrating, it has never worked right.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi

I am regretfully informing that even the newly replaced screen about 6 months ago, started giving the same issue and today it went completely black. But When connected to a remote monitor, the display comes in that screen. Also the touch screen functions working.
can anyone help please?

Unfortunately, I have a similar problem - looks like the design is faulty or the parts are just not built to last long.  I suspect the displays are only set to last about 1000 hours. I hardly use mine so it took about 3 years to get to this problem

I've had this issue 2-3 times over the last year in the 3 years I've owned it - including after the first couple of months. What's interesting (on hindsight) is that it seems to correlate with driver/bios updates from Dell. I'm not having it for the 4th time and it coincided with updates installed 2/28/2024. Now, just waiting for the next update - if it doesn't fix it. no more Dell for my family or companies.
