Upgrade Screen Resolution to Full HD 1920x1080 Inspiron 5558

Question

I got the inspiron 5558 i7 (8gb Ram, 1tb HDD) and apparently it only comes with 1366x768 resolution. I have Nvidia GeForce 920m in my laptop. I would like to know if i could upgrade the screen to 1920x1080. My model is non touch.

Not an easy upgrade as the following forum post points out. The post is for the 5559 but the solution is the same, a new screen and wiring harness.

Hi, I wanted to tell you that I took the risk and upgraded my screen from 1366x768 to 1920x1080.

You need a new cable, 30 pin double lane, the part numbers that worked for me are either (these are the same):
DC020025K00
0KNG43

Keep in mind that this is NOT for a touch display.

However, since the cable is quite brittle (and because of my lack of experience and precaution) I damaged it when I was installing it and I could not get the webcam to work again (the cable also connects the webcam). Another thing that I couldn't get to work was controlling the brightness/backlight of the screen, but hopefully that was the result of the damaged cable.

did you manged to solve the Camera-Mic problem? upgraded with same cable PN you advised - indeed FHD screen works but no MIC and CAM.   any suggestions?

Everything is working, camera and mic. as well. Just be sure to get the cable no. DC020025K00 and you are safe to upgrade to FHD screen. I did the same for my Inspiron 5558 and now it's working perfectly with FHD screen.

I have spent 1-2 years waiting for someone to do it and give his review but no luck. So I decided to give it a try myself and yup, it works like a charm. To anyone who wishes to do the same, I'm her to declare this idea works just be sure to get the correct cable and you will be good to go!!

Hi Krish, I am also trying to upgrade my display to FHD but have my reservations about sellers also whether components will be genuine or not. Could you please help me with the seller's name or website, If it's alright with you. I'm also having hard time finding the FHD display and double lane cable.
