Upgrade ssd in g3 3579
Can I add an Intel SSD 660p Series 1.0TB M.2 80mm to my laptop that just came with a 1 TB hard drive but in the documentation said this port can only have 512 Gb, also this SSD compatible or which one do you recommend?
Is it possible to change all the info from one drive to another one and became the default one with no other change to the computer?

To get this information you need to log on to support, enter your model number and most importantly Enter your Service Tag Number.
That will open all the hardware information on your Particular notebook, You should download and read your Service Manual there you will find out how to open your notebook and actually see what ports you have. There will also show you what types of hard drives or SSD you Can actually install and how to install them.
As to transferring your hard drive to a new hard drive or SSD, this is what we call Cloning and Macrium Reflect Free is the correct program to use to make this happen See this video to find out how https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LClr3FPg4_4
For more information on how to fully use Macrium Reflect https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/61026-backup-restore-macrium-reflect.html an excellent Tutorial.
If you have a m.2 slot you'll need to know if it's for a SATA or NVME SSD figure all this out before you purchase anything. If you don't have a m.2 slot you can always upgrade your Hard drive to a 2.5 SATA SSD its a straight-up change out. as you can see in the link 2.5 SSD are available from 128GB to 4 TB. All will fit since these are all 7mm thick.
