No one from dell was able to provide me any solution. Finally I went on to reset or reinstall windows 10. There was a significant improvement after that. Earlier the total memory available was showing to be 8.5 GB after that ot started showing 11.9.
After this the boot time significantly reduced and performance was better.
If this is the same system you asked about an SSD upgrade for, and it's still lagging - start with a thorough run of the Dell diagnostics -- INCLUDING an extended (surface) test of the hard drive. F12 at powerup.
If nothing turns up, open the task manager to see what's consuming CPU and memory.
A failing hard drive can also cause similar symptoms - and this system is getting to the age where statistically, hard drive failure rates begin to rise markedly. Test the drive thoroughly.
Yes this is the same laptop I was asking about. I had gone for RAM upgrade since performance was good and it lagged only when I used multiple applications. Now that I have upgraded, it is somehow become very laggy. I have so far run Memory test using dell Support Assist but no issues detected.
This same issue happened to me when I upgraded RAM to my lenovo laptop as well. Even after removing the old RAM the device stays laggy. Someone suggested to go to safe boot and uninstall all drivers that use Memory and reinstall them. Havent tried yet.
