Which Dockingstation for Inspiron 3501?

I bought an Inspiron Inspiron 15 TGL 3000 Series 3501
Fixed Hardware Configuration
15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-glare LED Backlight Non-Touch Narrow Border WVA Display
11th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 Processor (12MB Cache, up to 4.7 GHz)
CN30136

i would like to know which docking station i should buy in order to operate the notebook 2 27 inch Ultra Sharp WQHD monitors.

I would also like to know whether my inspiron now has a usb-c connection with which I can also operate a monitor or whether I am missing out on buying an inspiron with a dedicated graphics card

No mention that the optional USB Type-C is capable of graphics.

You should have done your research.

In the order overview it is not clear whether such a connection is available. It would be important to know whether I can operate a docking station via this connection (USB-C).

I thought the USB-C port would also be suitable for connecting a monitor directly. So what is the USB - C port used for? Does my notebook now have such a connection? He won't come for a week.

As far as I can tell all documentation shows that your laptop does not have DisplayPort over USB Type-C or Thunderbolt 3 protocol.

You are stuck with DisplayLink which is inferior. Read the explanation why : https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/Docking-Station-D6000-Very-Bad-Video-performance-for-gaming/td-p/6193369

If you insist on a dock, you can choose from D6000, D3100, D3000, D1000.  https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-au/000124295/guide-to-dell-docking-stations

Or is it better to hang the monitor directly on the notebook via an HDMI cable?

@DG10031992  As already mentioned, the Setup and Specifications guide for that system available on support.Dell.com does not mention DisplayPort for video output, or Thunderbolt 3, or Power Delivery for system charging when addressing the USB-C port. All of those features are optional on USB-C ports and therefore are not always implemented on systems with USB-C ports. The one on your system appears to be purely for USB data.

The DisplayLink-based docks mentioned above are an option, but they have the problems mentioned in the post marked as the answer in the thread that was linked, which I wrote. And even the D6000 wouldn’t charge your system over USB-C if your system doesn’t support that.

Thank you for your answers! That was very helpfull. Is there a docking station that you can recommend for use with one or two Dell 27 inch Ultra Sharp WQHD monitors?

@DG10031992  The D6000 will handle dual QHD displays as long as the drawbacks of DisplayLink aren't an issue for you.  You could connect one of them via the HDMI output, but not two.  Only DisplayPort (and USB-C/TB3, which use DisplayPort for video output) are able to run multiple independent displays from a single output.  So even if you connected one display via HDMI, which would avoid DisplayLink's drawbacks for that display, you would need a DisplayLink-based solution for the other display.

If you ONLY cared about having that second display, you could get a simple DisplayLink dongle that would plug into a regular USB port and give you an HDMI or DisplayPort output.  That would be less expensive than a docking station, but then of course you only have a display output rather than all ports of a docking station.  However, since you won't be able to charge your system from a docking station anyway, one option you might want to consider is just buying a multi-port USB 3.0 hub.  Then you could plug your DisplayLink dongle and whatever else you needed into that hub.  At that point, you'd only be connecting power, your USB hub, and your HDMI display to your laptop.  And if you had speakers or headphones that used a headphone jack instead of USB and wanted to use them without having to deal with one more cable to connect directly to your PC, there are small USB audio adapters like this one that you could also plug into the USB 3.0 hub.  There are also USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapters that you could plug into this hub if you need Ethernet.

Thank you for your detailed answer. Is there actually an Inspiron notebook that can be connected to a display with a USB-C cable or is that only possible with the XPS laptops?

I would actually like to operate several displays with it because the computer is for my wife / home office. You need several monitors to keep an eye on applications in parallel. Therefore, the solution with a docking station would be the most beautiful because you only have to connect one cable. We're mainly talking about Office programs here.

Would the i5 be sufficient for this or should I prefer the i7?

many greetings

The Inspiron 3501 have a limitation in the mother board that the limit resolution is 1080p. With de DisplayLink i'll be able to display over 1080p?
