Windows 10 1903 Update Requires Newer Intel Rapid Storage RST Driver
Windows Update attempted to update my Inspiron 3567 to Windows 10-1903, but stopped due to an out of date Intel RST driver (15.2.xx). According to the Windows page the driver needs to be 15.9.xx or higher. On the Dell product support page for the 3567, the 15.2.xx driver from 2016 is still listed. What is the correct Intel RST driver for the 3567 that satisfies the windows update requirement?

Welcome to the Dell Community @Frank-A
Microsoft has placed a compatibility hold on Windows 10 devices that prevents them from upgrading to Windows 10 1903 if they are using older Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers.
This is because certain versions of the software could cause Windows 10 to crash or not operate properly in version 1903.

You may want to try this one from Intel Download Center:

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) User Interface and Driver Version: 17.5.1.1021 (Latest) Date: 7/10/2019
Regards,
U2
NOTE: I have notice that other models are having the same problem.
We can only hope that Dell is aware of the problem and is working on it???

I tried the latest version, 17.5.1.1021, for my XPS 8900 desktop, but still see the same message. Any suggestions?
Also, which file do I need to apply between SetupOptaneMemory.exe and SetupRST.exe?
Thank you.

I'm having the same problem with an Inspiron 15 7569. Dell's Support Assist check shows no new driver at 31 July 2019
Dell's support page in my account at their web site also does not show any relevant driver
The message I received from Microsoft was:
"Intel and Microsoft have found incompatibility issues with certain versions of the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) drivers and the Windows 10 May 2019 Update. If your device has an Intel® RST driver version between 15.1.0.1002 and 15.5.2.1053 installed, it cannot install the May 2019 Update.
Versions 15.5.2.1054 or later are compatible, and a device that has these drivers installed can install the Windows 10 May 2019 Update. For affected devices, the recommended version is 15.9.6.1044"
I tried looking at Device Manager in Computer Management on my laptop thinking I might be able to update the driver from there. However after looking at every category of driver I couldn't find anything that specifically mentioned Intel Rapid Service Technology (RST)
I am reluctant to try installing a driver directly from Intel's web site as there are warning about lack of compatibility with some OEM systems
Dell need to address this issue very very urgently as the Windows Update is rolling out now, after an initial delay

I solved the same issue on my inspiron by installing the following driver:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/nl/nl/nlbsdt1/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=6w1fp
I hope it will work for you as well.

@Mr_Eri
Yes they could give it a try.
Even though their models are not listed as a "Compatible System"
I have seen drivers from other models work.
What could go wrong???
Best regards,

@MOTPR
Please start a new post.
Post to the "Type" of laptop you have.
And include the "Model Number" of the laptop you have.
This thread now has multiple "Types" and "Model Numbers" posted.
There will not be a one solution fits all answer.
Thank you,
U2

@Frank-A @satch10 @MOTPR
Go to driver’s directory C:\Windows\System32\drivers find iastora.sys and rename it iastora.old.
Then install Windows 10 1903 update.

I searched on the Dell site by newest driver (https://www.dell.com/support/search/us/en/04#q=Intel%20Rapid%20Storage&sort=date%20descending&f:iuxType=[Drivers%20%26%20Downloads]&f:langFacet=[en])
and found this:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=fxgny
Installed it and Windows is now updating.
(Running on an Inspiron 13-7368)

Thanks for the information. This issue is very frustrating. i am going to try your solution
My question is:
After Windows Update successfully installs should I change the iastora file back from (renamed) "old" to (original) "sys"? and will the Update work properly?
I'd be very grateful for your advice, and probably many other users with this problem
Regards
John

Just install the latest update.
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28966/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-User-Interface-and-Driver?product=55005
It should rename it automatically.
