Windows 11 Compatibility for Existing Dell Laptops
Hi Community,
As maybe in less than 6 months or so, Microsoft will release Windows 11 to downloaded to all in the public who has Windows 10 license I guess. But I want to know whether already existing Dell laptops can upgrade to Windows 11, atleast laptops which came with Windows 10 pre-installed? Will the available drivers be supported in the new OS? Will Dell give official announcement regarding this?
Regards

Hi @U2CAMEB4ME,
Windows 11 release might be true, because in the last few days many big YouTubers made a video on it having their hands on leaked unfinished iso file. Even many tech pages in internet showed leaked images and videos of new OS from unfinished iso.
Though we still have to wait for Microsoft to confirm the new OS release on June 24, 2021 11AM ET.
FYI Microsoft also placed a copyright infringement claim on one of the Indian YouTube channel "BeeBom" for showing the new OS and also giving a link to download the iso. This point as to be considered.
But I like and respect the fact that you're spreading good info to not believe any such info which is not officially said.
Hi @JOcean,
Yes you're right, Dell Moderator might release some valid info regarding this, maybe after its launch on June 24, 2021.
Hi @ejn63,
Yes, the risk that you mentioned is very vaild. Then most of the present hardware must be not supported ig. But I feel that from the videos of unfinished leaked iso, Windows 11 shares the same core kernel of Windows 10.
Hi @Alzaga,
Nice that you had installed (unfinished leaked version iso) in you're laptop. But as it is not official please be careful which using. Because that OS maybe prone to crash. If you would like can you share more on how it's working with the drivers installed in Windows 10.
Thank you all for your replies, let's wait and watch for the big event Microsoft has announced.

Past history indicates there will be a period of time during which new systems will have upgrade eligibility for the "new" OS. Software support with all new systems is very limited -- meaning even these will be do-it-yourself upgrades by and large. Anything older will be unsupported by Dell.
From all appearances, Windows "11" or whatever it ends up being called is just an interface change atop the Windows 10 core, so the under-the-hood changes will be small.
The only real risk is likely to those with older systems that are only tenuously supported by Windows 10 -- those may well see obsolescence (or having to remain on 10) if MS implements new requirements that obsolete older CPU, GPU, etc. hardware.
Only time will tell - but this is not the major shift that happened when Windows 7 was replaced with 8 -- and 8 with 10.

Eventually I suspect that Dell will have a formal strategy for the release of Windows 11. However right now this is pure conjecture as MS has not even issued confirmation that Windows 11 will be released or even exists. We will know more after the 24th but for now all manufacturers are a bit up in the air concerning support for Windows 11 or whatever MS decides to name the next release. I assume that a moderator will offer more information when they know more about the MS strategy.

You may be using a pre-release beta of what might become Windows 11, but there is no true Windows 11 right now.

Welcome to the Dell Community @Avinash127419
Could you provide a screenshot of the W11.
I remember W12 was to be released at the beginning of this year???

Microsoft's "PC HealthCheck" for Windows 11 compatibility is found at the bottom of this page.
