ethernet not working

Hi Hoping someone can help!

recently purchased a DELL Inspiron 17 3793 and all is going well apart from the fact I cannot connect to my router or other Dell laptop via ehernet connection and yet all is fine via wifi.

Frustratingly when I connect the old laptop to a cable the card acknowledges the cable - same cable to the DELL Inspiron 17 3793 there is no response!

Ive tried uninstalling the drivers so they reinstall - no hope.

Any ideas who be appreciated

Cheers

Sounds like a setup connection error. Ethernet is a special cable that connects the router and the special ethernet port on the computer (#4 in the picture*) Try connecting the Ethernet cable to a diff port on the router like #2.  Run the Network Troubleshooter for more help. Make sure you setup your home network so the computers can see each other.
