Does patch software remain in Isilon after OneFS upgrade?

Does anybody know whether patch software ramains in Isilon after OneFS upgrade or not?

For example, we can apply Patch-189708 to OneFS 8.0.0.0-8.0.0.4. Suppose I apply the patch to my OneFS 8.0.0.0 Ision and upgrade the Isilon to OneFS 8.0.0.4, do I have to reinstall Patch-189708 again (since the OneFS upgrade clear the patch software)? Or I don't have to reinstall Patch-189708 since the patch remains in the Isilon?

Once upgraded, patch will go away. you have to re-apply patch that applies to the upgraded OneFS if needed.

And as Phil mentioned key in on the "if needed" part of his statement, because a patch is usually just a short term fix until the fix is merged into the next maintenance release. Of course YMMV if it is a very recent patch.

You also need to be careful when upgrading to a new release - you may lose the fixes addressed by the patch.  For example, 8.0.1.0 is older than 8.0.0.4.    Fixes that became available in the 8.0.0 stream may not yet be available in the 8.0.1 stream.

Every patch or upgrade you do has consequences and has to be researched for what's important to you.
