Hi shankhan0000,

This error message means that DST Log contains previous error(s).We need to reseat the hard drive on the computer.

I have provided a link below to reseat the hard drive:

http://www.support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/insN4030/en/sm/hdd.htm#wp1185396

Ensure that the computer is turned off. If your computer did not automatically turn off when you shut down the operating system, press and hold the power button until the computer turns off.

CAUTION: To guard against electrical shock, always unplug your computer from the electrical outlet before opening the cover.

After reseating the hard drive, kindly run the diagnostics on the computer once again.

Let me know the status.

Awaiting your response!

Thank You for your help so far

Please note that i have model n4030 , and i am able to plug the hard disk out just by removing the two screws instead of 4 screws in 5010 , and by removing the 2 screws the hard disk is able to pull from side just like optical drive.

Is this process OK ? or i have to open all the things like you said above. ?

If the process i wrote is OK and i did that but still getting that error.

What should i do next?

Shan

Hi Shan,

Yes that’s correct. First remove the battery from the computer then remove 2 screws securing the hard drive.

The hard drive would slide out as of DVD drive does.

Let me know the status.

Awaiting your response!

Hi Shan,

The hard drive needs to be replaced on the computer.

Contact a local technician to back up data. The data would be lost if the hard drive is replaced.

If the computer is under warranty, I would help you in arranging a service for your computer.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

If the computer is under warranty, I would arrange for a service on the computer.

If the computer is out of warranty, I have provided a link below which has contact information:

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/expired_warranty?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anavml

Note: Kindly back up the data by contacting local technician .Dell is not responsible for loss of data.

Awaiting your response!

Hi Shan,

I have reviewed your account and could see that the computer is out of warranty.

You can create recovery disks using disks. Below link would help you creating a system recovery disks for factory image.

For other data backup you can contact local technician.

I can also provide you online services from Drive savers to back up data.

I have provided a link below for drive savers:

Hi Shan,

We cannot back up Dell diagnostics utility. We cannot back up the factory image on to an external device like hard drive. We can just make a recover partition on disk of factory image.

I have provided a link below for hard drive of 1 TB western digital:

Please reply if you have any further questions.

Hi Shan,

This error 2000-0146 indicates that the hard drive can fail any time. This would not impact computer functionality but soon the hard drive would fail.

So, it’s recommended to back up data to an external drive.

Please reply if you have any further questions.
