15R SE - RAM & HDD Upgrade Qs
Hi,
There are a few contradictory posts around here on how much RAM is supported by the 15R SE, some saying 8BG some 16GB(with the loss of some intel technologies). Can anyone please tell me how much the laptop supports?
The laptop initially came with a 750 GB HDD that seems to the bottle neck in performance with 100% disk use on boot up/AV scan become an all to frequent frustration. Again there are some contradictions on whether or not the laptop has space for a second 2.5'' SSD drive to help boost performance, can anyone clear this up also?

All 15R-SEs officially support 8G of RAM -- you may or may not be successful installing 16.
There is no space internally for a second 2.5" drive. You CAN replace the optical drive with an adapter that will take a 2.5" SSD. However, the drive you mount that way will most likely not be bootable.

Thanks for clearing this up! Another (unrelated) question; Is it possible to purchase and install a back lit keyboard (UK layout) for the 15R SE or are they only available for the 17R SE?
