No, it doesn't; the first mobile 64-bit processor is AMD (Turion/Athlon64 derived), not Intel.

Intel has no plans to release an IA64 CPU for mobile use until sometime next year.

probably around the time vista is released. do ye reckon Dell are planning a new release of laptop models around that time?

You can bet that once Intel releases the CPU, Dell will have notebooks ready to use it.

You can also bet prices will be high and availability very constrained at first - if you want to be first in line, expect a high price and a wait.

yea.. ahh maybe ill just wait for these new ones to come out, so when the prices of the current stock drops ill be able to afford one of them. are you able to recommend any athlon laptop producing companies that i could have a look at?

You can get an Intel or Athlon 64-bit CPU laptop right now if you want to go with a Sager.  Stroll on over to www.notebookforums.com and read all about them.
