9300 Notebook Top Closed & Screen Resolution

I have an Inspiron 9300 with the 128 Mb ATI X300 video card.

I also use an hp L1925 19" LCD monitor external to the system. When I close my laptop up the resolution on my external monitor becomes very blurry.

Is there a fix for this problem? I am in an office environment where everyone else uses a docking station or port replicator and I want to use my 19" monitor with the case fully closed, because I worry about the long term life of the laptop hinge if I keep that case just barely open.

Any help would be greatly appreciated in this matter.

Regards

Keith

Set the external monitor to its native resolution, maybe you L1925 should be 1280*1024.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, that did nothing to improve the situation. It is still the same.

Close the top of your notebook, and then check the resolution of your external LCD monitor, it should be the native resolution.

Not to be a jerk or anything, but I understood you the first time. It didn't work.

Try to turn off/on the ClearType.

If you not familar with ClearType, you can download the Microsoft ClearType Tuner from the following link.

I tried that as well. Honestly I really tried everything I could think of...it's just totally bizarre. I've used the DVI connection and the Analog connection and nothing seems to want to improve the situation. Honestly I've spent like 2 hours playing with JUST this issue. I don't have the time to screw around with it any longer. I guess when the time comes that I need to replace the hinge I'll look into it more.
