AC Adapter LED goes OFF when connected
Latitude 600's:
The AC adapter LED light goes dark as soon as it is connected to the laptop.
The battery status lights indicate it is fully charged, and the AC adapter does not exhibit this behavior when connected to another laptop.
I was wondering if the AC adapter was smart enough to temporarily shut itself off if the power from the laptop is "dirty", "bad" or insufficient?

that green led you're talking about on the adapter should stay on all the time no matter what's connected to it as long as it's plugged in.
Try going in to the bios, alt+p 3x and it should take you to the battery page. do you see that it says fully charged or charging and that it displays the right wattage of the adapter?
Also, press the button on the battery to see if it's still good...after a full charge, any missing lights mean bad cells.

The LED on the PSU brick should remain on when connected to mains power. Anything else is a fault somewhere in the system. I suspect the LED might go out if the PSU is overloaded - either because the current is much too high (immediate shutdown and recovers immediately the load is removed) or because the current is a bit high for too long and it overheats (delayed shutdown, delayed recovery after cooling).
Does the PSU power the computer correctly (and light stays on) if you remove the battery and run only from mains? This might suggest a failing battery.

I was not able to inspect the issue further. Dell replaced the motherboard of the laptop exhibiting this issue. Wow, that was quick!
