ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300 driver update

I have a Inspiron 9300 running XP, with a ATI Mobility Radeon X300 video card.  For the past year I've been playing Half-Life 2 and Sim 2, but now both don't run and say my video driver needs to be updated.

I've tried:
1) The ATI website, and they directed me to Dell.
2) Dell website only had my current ATI driver.
3) I've also tried using the XP Device Manager to look for updates but it can't find any updates.

Half-Life 2 says I need driver version 8.282 with a release date of 08/21/2006.

Where can I get this driver or a newer driver?

Thanks,
Jon

Are these games interactive and you are playing them online? If not then it makes no sense since the games worked fine after installing them. If you are Playing them online are you sure the driver update is the ATI video card driver they are asking for? Have you gone to the game website and searched for patches or solutions for these type problems?

The latest drivers (Catalyst 6.12) for the "Mobility Radeon X series cards" from ATI can be downloaded from the "ATI direct link"... (to bypass the validation process "click here").
For the "Release Notes" and the Graphics Cards it supports, "click here".

If you want to try drivers optimized (modified) for gaming & image quality... you can find the "Omega Catalyst Drivers 3.8.291 (Catalyst 6.9)" from "here" (He's recognized by ATi and an ATi BETA Tester).
There might be a slight glitch ("click here")... but I believe it can be remedied by a small modification to the INF, before installing the driver.

Aloha,
Rod

Rob,

That work!  Now that it's working, I'll check out the optimized driver.  Thanks again for your help!
