AU Optronics Graphics Corruption - Please HELP!!!

Hello, everyone!

I purchased a computer with 17" WXGA+ TrueLife AU Optronics LCD screen... The grainy image - yeah it exists, but I am OK having it, as these screens are brighter than some others that I had a contact with (Take LG-Philips for example - I compared those side by side). I have ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics card.

However, my real fright came when I put my computer to standby by simply closing the lid of Dell Inspiron E1705... When I opened the lid, the screen showed me multiple thick white horizontal lines, and in two places the white color started to become whiter and increase in size, like you poured the white ink onto the screen in two places and let it create a bigger mess. Afterwards, everything clears up and the screen starts showing the Windows Password Screen on Vista Home Premium, screen has a little flicker for 5 seconds and everything works great afterwards... Notice, however, that the same thing doesn't happen if I put computer to sleep when the lid is open... Neither is applicable to hibernate or shut-down processes...

So after long talk with Dell tech, who also accused me of lying (this is ridiculous!!!), I decided that having this screen is better that having to go thru all the Dell technicians who can't give normal tech support and who are the meanest people! (Not all of them, but I see the majority being such)

So I decided, why don't I go to Device Manager and see if updated driver is available... Yeah, it updated from the old ATI's or MS's basic driver to the newest 8.360.0.0 March 14, 2007 driver... and after I checked the same steps by closing the lid, the graphics corruption vanished... The screen either comes up wonderfully after a millisecond or it may wait for 2 seconds and screen comes up nice and perfect...

However, I still have doubts that it may be a temporary fix or that maybe it will somehow come back... Has anyone with AU Optronics screen (Or maybe other screen) experienced this graphics corruption before uprgrading the driver? And is it possible that driver may be the reason of such wake-up temporary corruption?

Thank you so much!

Eugene

P.S.: I had a chance to use LG-Philips screen before, and this never happened with old driver, nor with the new one. So I assume it may only be applicable to the AU Optronics LCD screen... Please let me know what you think... Thanks!!!
