About Boot Problem
Hello Dell Community,
I am using dell Inspiron 1440.As my laptop hungs,I restarted it.
Before window starts,I got the messages like this
"Use the up- and down- arrow keys to move the pointer to the desired boot device.
Press [Enter] to attempt the boot or ESC to cancel.
Internal HDD
CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive
Onboard NIC
BIOS Setup
Diagnostics
"
I chose ESC .
After that ,I shut down it.And then opened it again.I got above messages.
I did not get above messages before.
Now I get the messages before window starts.
May I know why do these messages appear before window starts?
If I choose ESC key,can it affect the other devices in the system?(Or)How can I resolve this problem? What steps should I take?
May I know about it.
Thanks in advance

Hi Nwe Nwe,
Pressing the Esc key will not affect any devices on the computer. The boot order sequence seems to be changed. I would suggest you to go into the BIOS (F2 during start up) then go into ‘Boot Sequence’ under General and change the first option to ‘Internal HDD’. Save the settings and restart the system to check.
Also, I would like you to check if the system time is correct.

Hello,
I am using window vista home premium 64 bits.I pressed F2 key during start up.I cannot see "Boot Sequence" under General.
I can see the message like this-"
Window Boot Manager
Choose an Operating System to start, or press TAB to select a tool:
(Use the arrow keys to highlight your choice, then press ENTER.)
Window Vista >
To specify an advanced option for this choice press F8:
Tools
Windows Memory Diagnosis."
May I know what steps I will do?
I would like to present the problem that I encountered.
I type some text on notepad. While I am typing some text, the system does not allow me to type text anymore.
I find that two or more icons on desktop are selected.
When I remove the selection,I can type some text on notepad.
Sometimes,I cannot select all text that I type with Ctrl+A.
Sometimes,the system can work correctly.
May I know about it.
Thanks in advance

Hi Nwe New,
I would like to know if you have tried reinstalling the operating system on your system.
Next, please refer to the picture below to find ‘Boot Sequence’ under General.
Also, please update the BIOS and the touchpad driver for your system. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the operating system, and then download the BIOS from the BIOS section and Touchpad driver from ‘Mouse, Keyboard & Input Devices’ section onto the system and install it.

I’d suggest you to run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.
