Adding a SSD to Inspiron 17R Special Edition

There was another post very similar to this but it wasn't a definitive answer to the last part of his question: Since there are 2 hard drive slots available in this laptop, how can you install a SSD as the main bootup drive, but also keep the original, pre-existing 1 TB Hard Drive solely for storage?? I only got a 120GB SSD because I was counting on using the 1 Terabyte hard drive as storage, how can I make this work?
