4. Running this will remove the existing FreeFall Data Protection application first, and then ask you to re-boot. After re-boot, the application would be re-installed.
5. Check the steps 1 and 2 to see if they’re correct.
Moreover, in order to avoid the wrong update, please open the Windows Update, and right-click ‘ST Microelectronics – Other Hardware – ST Micro ScreenDetection Sensor Driver’, choose ‘hide the update’.
thanks for replying. I saw that solution on google. But I am unable to find the micro sensor in device manager. I just see an unknown device there. Under which category is it supposed to be shown? I about the driver link. I went there but its showing so many version, how to find which one is in this system?
I updated the first visible driver from that link, now the unknown driver issue is not there, and i see the ST micro accelerometer in System Device category. But its showing some message also. I am attaching the new snapshot of that. Is this normal. Will it work with this issue also? I will try to update it directly in the meantime..
okay, i got it working finally. The issue was somewhat with the latest driver.. It seems that the day I updated the drivers for the first time. The latest MT micro accelerometer uninstalled the current driver, but did not update it with newer version, and hence the errors. now its perfectly fine..
I have the same poblem, same PC, the device was shown as an uninstalled device, have now installed the driver R253427 but still have an error(This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

1. Open Device Manager > System Device, to check if you have ‘ST Micro ScreenDetection Sensor’ listed (It should be ST Micro Accelerometer.)
2. Open Control Panel > FreeFall Data Protection, if it fails or you get error message, the wrong driver could be installed.
3. Download the ST Microelectronic Driver http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?s=gen&c=us&l=en&cs=&k=st+microelectronics+de351dl+motion+sensor&cat=sup&ref=ac
4. Running this will remove the existing FreeFall Data Protection application first, and then ask you to re-boot. After re-boot, the application would be re-installed.
5. Check the steps 1 and 2 to see if they’re correct.
