I've got a Dell Precision M4800 and I've installed 4x8 GB RAM ( CMSX16GX3M2B1600C9 )
First boot has no problem. My PC alerts me that the ammount of RAM mamory has been changed and all works properly. I switched it off.
Later, I try to switch it on but it doesn't work (black screen and nothing appen).
I forced arrest and I tryed to turn on again. It started but after the "Dell" logo it screened me: "Alert! Keyboard initialization failure!". I pressed F1 to continue and my computer works properly.
But everytime i switch on my computer i have to force arrest, retry, press F1... and then all work.
I tryed to:
- reinstal BIOS;
- unmount RAM to test if they are broken but they are perfect;
but nothing appened.
(the keyboard is perfectly assembled on motherboard and with 2x8 GB RAM i've no problems at all)
can anyone helps me??
( I'm from ITALY and my english is not perfect as you can see... please helps me anyway!!! I try to write again if I hasn't been clear...XD)
As a quick test boot the system up, let windows fully load, and before opening any programs click on start - shutdown – shutdown. Once it fully shuts down go ahead and start the system immediately, does the problem returns.
What messages do Windows give when shutting down, any errors, or any Windows can’t be shut down messages?
If the problem started after installing extra ram, return the memory that originally shipped with the notebook and see if the problem continues. Run diagnostics on the system to verify if there is any defective hardware.
If you don’t receive any errors and you are still able to boot to Windows you may consider using Msconfig and clean boot troubleshooting and see if that helps.

When shutting down and immediately restart there isn't any errors!
I execute onboard diagnostics on the system (before boot, pressing F5) and now I execute the diagnostics on Dell Web Site. Results that everything it's ok! All passed!
Returning to the memory that originally shipped, problems stop. But they stop also with the new RAM if I instal only 16 GB (as in the shipped config).
I dont think that a clean boot can help. The problem starts before windows boot. when i press the button to start computer, fans start work but nothing else. I have to press the same button to forced shutting down and then when i try to start again it works. But just after Dell Logo disappear (before windows boot):
"alert! keyboard initialization failure!
to continue press F1
to chance setup option press F2
to run onboard diagnostics press F5"
So double checking it does look like CMSX16GX3M2B1600C9 is DDR3L memory, so that shouldn’t be a problem. The only thing that I can think of is the processor, if you have a dual core processor the system will only support two dims, 16 GB max, for 32 GB the system requires a quad core I5 or I7 processor.
Assuming that you have the correct processor you are looking at either defective memory or a defective memory slot. Test the memory one or at most two at a time and see if there are any problems with any of the modules. If you don’t run into any problems with any of the modules just as long as you are only using to slots at a time, then you know it is a memory slot. Otherwise if the problems start every time that you install one module, it is likely that module is defective.

Processor is: Intel® Core™ i7-4910MQ (quad-core, 2,90 GHz, Turbo 3,90 GHz, 8 MB e 47 W, con scheda grafica HD 4600). it should be correct.
I did... everything seems work properly...
I also tryed to install the old RAM (preinstalled on it)... nothing... if there are 32 Gb it doesnt work... it doesnt matter whitch one kind of memory I install...
Any other ideas?
Ringrazio e saluto
I have same problem on Precision T 1600. Alerts on black screen-re keyboards initialisation failure and fan overheat. But after Dell logo shows on screen coosing f1, f2, f5 etc as screen offers as options, that message screen appears frozen, no input from function keys accepted.
