Alienware 15 occasionally locks up when waking up display
I have a very strange system crash occurring when the display has turned off, and I move the mouse to wake it back up.
I have an Alienware 15 running Windows 8.1, connected to an external LCD monitor, with an external keyboard and a wireless mouse (both Logitech). Sound card is an SB Recon 3Di. The lock up seems to happen when I have music streaming through a web browser, like from Google Play. The display turns off after 10 minutes or so. If I move the external mouse to wake up the screen, sometimes the sound will stutter and then stop completely after a few seconds, and the computer is locked up. I have to do a hard shutdown and restart of the computer.
Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Honestly I have but not on anything modern (i'm talking about computers built in the 90's). have you checked Dell's support site for your model of computer and downloaded any new drivers? Has there been any changes to hardware configurations that you have made? I would start with windows updates, and download any new drivers from Dell's support site first and then go from there.

Hello and good evening
Why even turn off or put the system to sleep?
For the last several years I never shut down or sleep; Why?
Just turn off the monitor.
Tech Support will agree and your system will last longer have less issues and you will be happier.
Food for thought.

Thanks for the response - I do have the most recent drivers installed. The only extra hardware I use are external mouse/keyboard and an external monitor.
