Alienware 15 r2 ratting sound from inside
Hi, I just got my laptop 2 weeks ago and it makes this grinding/rattling noise randomly from time to time. Also, when I shake the laptop very gently, the same sound goes off. I've updated all the drivers and BIOS. The laptops only been used 5 times.

If there's no spinning drive in the system, the only thing it can be is a faulty fan. If the system is brand new, contact Dell and have it replaced under the 21-day satisfaction guarantee (the system that is -- there is no point in having a brand-new system that's faulty on arrival repaired).

I just got it yesterday. also noticed a low rattling noise (sizzling). little bit like sort of noise a HDD makes (but it is with SDD).
