Alienware M17x HD 5870 CrossFireX driver updates
When is Dell going to fix the issue's surrounding the graphics cards for ATI so that the generic ATI mobile drivers work for the HD8570 x 2? We need driver optimisation when is Dell going to release new ATI mobile Drivers?

Having the same problem here, currently the mobility drivers dell have for the alienware are running from "Mobility Catalyst 10.1" while ATI have released up to 10.7 and one of the games I want to play works after 10.5 though I can't use the ATI updated because the laptop wont let me update to them. I will admit the card I have is the 5870 rather than a 8570... am I posting in the right part?

I'm having the same drivers issues. Crashing everyday and very frequently.
What's the point of buying a $3000+ laptop if it doesn't function properly? It's a shame that there's no optimized drivers to work with this graphic card because everything else work perfectly fine!

I have this problem as well. Dell gave me a new laptop as the fix.
With my old laptop I found the following work arounds to work. They both have bad points.
First option I recommend doing. Disable xfire with dell driver & everything works fine. Problem with this is you paided for the 2nd card but never get to use it.
Other option if your careful. Install ATI drivers but always have the AC power turned on or you will get bluescreen. So have AC turned on before you turn laptop on & make sure it is still on till it turns off.

Dell released a p02 beta driver this is the 2nd attempt and it seems better but we need more game profile fixes. I see in the Catalyst 10.6 the issues with BFBC2 and DX11 were fixed like flickering textures and long load times. This is still happening even thought the new driver is 10.8. I hope Dell gets their stuff together. Or they may loose a loyal customer....

I was told by the tech at Dell that the beta driver is not for my system.
I got m17xr2 with 2 5870s with a07 bios
Do you know how I can disable switchable graphics on the laptop? With this disabled I think the driver from the ATI site will work without any problem.

The beta driver caused lockups and no real gain in performance. Dell Get with it the clock is ticking. I bought a gaming laptop for integrated graphics umm NO! I bought it to play games please fix it.

Tech support told me the beta drivers are not for this laptop. Made me wonder why they are in the list then.
