Alienware m14x r1 FPS problems

Hello

i bought my alienware m14x about 2 years ago and since the beginning ive had nothing but trouble with it

at this point in time any 3d games even from the late 90s have a hard time keeping a solid fps

for exsample

skyrim runs at about 60 fps max and min is 20 fps but its allover the place not one moment of gameplay felt smooth

half life 2 this laptop should run this fine i get about 45 fps on any setting low or high and in this case the minimum fps is 0 yes 0 and the max is somthing obsurdly high like 275fps but it tends to fall near the 45 fps mark usually

and team fortress 2 yet another source game , it seems to stay at 30fps and constally has stuttering

okay well for 6 months now i have serched for a solution for this well rather odd problem

i am well aware of nivida's optimus and how that works i have probally spent a month in total fiddling with the settings

so at the moment my laptop looks like its on life support hdmi cables and cooling pads all over the place and yet it still dosent do a single thing

bad thing is that i dont have the money or time to fix or replace anything inside

PS nothing to my eyes seems to be wrong im using the right power supply it dosent over heat and it just seems fine to me so could this possibly be a software problem

THANKS FOR READING ANY HELP WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED :emotion-1:

Hi A cow in space,

Please re-install the video drivers from geforce.co.uk / .com - download the new drivers - uninstall the existing drivers - restart - install the new drivers in custom install mode - select perform clean installation - http://bit.ly/1DvKVYa- check the pic only as a reference.

Once installation is complete - restart system - open nvidia control panel - set the programs / games you want to run on nvidia processor - http://bit.ly/1ddyKsN - check the pic for reference or you could set the global settings and every program to run on nvidia by default and select apply on bottom right.

Also set the physx configuration - http://bit.ly/1Fm3mDj - to GPU and apply.

Then test the games and check if they work fine.

Keep us updated.
