Alps pointing device
I cannot scroll or use gestures on my touchpad. This thing has been iffy from the start and I even contemplated sending the laptop back to Dell because of the functionality issues of this device. The tech support assured me however that this was a great machine, one of the best Dell has ever built, so I decided to keep the computer. After downloading a driver it did work again, mostly. Then after a windows update no scroll or gestures would work. My support has expired so I must resort to web support and forums. After downloading a new driver from dell I actually lost some functionality when the scroll section was omitted from the build. I decided to uninstall the touchpad altogether. Horrible mistake, after some choice language I just barely managed reinstall the touchpad. I can move the cursor now but all other functions do not work. Any help here would be appreciated.

Try looking into
c:\Program Files\DellTPad\
in my case I see 2 apps:
1) DellTouchpad.exe: this is the "official" one, that gets activated through Control Panel, sometimes it has issues with settings not "sticking" or not even appearing.
2) DellTPad.exe: this seems to be a new app, it has more settings (even one finger scrolling) and it always works.
So try looking for DellTPad.exe and using that to configure the touchpad.

I found the file downloaded it and tried to install it, however it has compatibility issues. Any other ideas? Oh, and thanks for trying!
