Attaching external keyboard

I have an Inspiron E1505. I prefer the keyboard I had on my old desktop Dell.  The old keyboard has a  PS-2 connector. How do I connect it to my laptop?  Do I need an adapter to convert the connector to a USB fitting? Also, will I still be able to use the laptop's touch pad and touch pad buttons with the old keyboard attached? Thank you
