Most of the newer Latitudes will not have audio input lines, only output, but there are certainly USB microphones which should work alright.  Please reply with the model of the notebook if you wish and I an double check to see if the system should have an audio in line.

I got to thinking about this more, and what I should have said originally, is that most latitudes wont have a separate audio input.  The headphone Jack may be bidirectional though. So if you have an analog headset that has a single connection,  the microphone should work fine. Or you can use a digital headset or microphone and plug in via USB.  Again if you would like for me to double-check please reply back with the model of your notebook.

On the right of the laptop I can only see the out input (the pink one) but not the mic input (the green one).

Hello. As Terry_B said, many of the Dell laptops now have a single audio port, known as a headset jack or combo jack. For details about how to use that kind of jack, see section  6 of the Headphone Jack FAQ.

So, my question is: may I use any Usb Audio Driver and record my music? Will my laptop recognize the driver despite there isn't the suited input?

The answer is that the Windows native usb audio driver will recognize a usb audio device when you plug a usb audio device into the usb port.

However you probably would prefer to use the microphone that you already own, rather than buying a new usb mic, so I suggest that you buy a usb audio jack. This little device will allow you to plug in your gear the normal way, as if your Latitude had a normal set of audio jacks.

As you can see in the picture, the usb jack has the pink and green jacks. Google "usb audio jacks". Amazon has a good selection of them and some of them are very inexpensive.

Ok, thanks everybody.
So, if I understood properly I can solve my problem in these following ways:
1) buying an Usb Audio Driver (like PreSonus or something like that) and using the driver by the Usb input.
2) buying an Usb Audio Jack (like the one on the pic).
Thanks again,
Marco.

Usb Audio Driver (like PreSonus or something like that)

A  Presonus is not a usb driver. A driver is a piece of software that connects a device with the operating system.

Both the Presonus and the usb audio jack are audio interfaces. They both do the same basic thing, which is to convert analog audio to digital (ADC) and to convert digital audio to analog (DAC). The big difference between them is that the Presonus is a much better piece of equipment than the usb audio jack.

The Presonus and other devices in the same price range "should" give you better results than a usb audio jack, and will also have additional features that the usb jack does not have.
