Forgot to add, if you get a usb jack, you still won't get any audio though the internal speakers of the laptop, but you will get audio through headphones or external speakers plugged into the jack.

VijaySRM,

You will need to replace the audio port on the motherboard. If you want to hear sound from your computer. If the service center is a reliable company then, you can have them repair the computer.

Hello C. Vijay. A jewelry repair shop might have the miniature tools required to remove the pin.

I took my laptop to a service center where the service man told to replace the audio port with a new one. Is it worth?

Depends on how much the cost of the repair is (might involve replacing the motherboard), and how much you value having the headphone function.

An easy and inexpensive workaround would be to get a usb audio jack, and plug the headset into it.

As you see, there is a port for headphones and a separate port for microphone. Your headset has either 2 plugs or a single plug.  In either case, the headphones will work with the jack, but if the headset only has one plug, then the microphone part of the headset will not work with the jack, even though the headphone part will work.
