Authenticity of a Dell Vostro 2520 battery

Hello,

I recenlty purchased a Dell Battery for Vostro 2520 (Part# 4YRJH/8NH55) 6 Cell Laptop Battery on Flipkart.

Serial number of the battery is: CN-04YRJH-PAS00-843-OAE2-A04

The package contains a Dell logo including the name and address of "Dell International Services" as distributor.

I would appreciate it if you could confirm the authenticity of the battery purchased online.

Thanks for responding but I don't think the vendor will ever claim it being a counterfeit product.

"Battery Cell Manufactured in Korea and assembled in China is printed on battery."

I ran the "BatteryInfoView" to verify the information and it says :

Battery Name DELL 7XFJJA2

Manufacture Name Samsung SDI

I tested it (100% to 10%) and it held out for a little more than 4 hours on battery test.

Any input ?

If that  date code (843) is correct, the battery was made in 2008 -- meaning either it's been rebuilt with new cells, or  it's B43 (in which case it was made in 2012).

it's a Dell part number, but unless it was purchased from Dell, you need to check with the vendor about its authenticity.

I have no idea how did you conclude that.I suppose Vostro 2520 was launched in late 2012.

Anyway here is what's printed on it :

CN-04YRJH-PAS00-843-OAE2-A04

KC 2016.10

DP/N 04YRJH

That's a third party battery - it is made to look like a Dell OEM battery, but it's not.  Presumably it was made in October 2016 -- but the "date code" simulation corresponds to April 2008.

It's not OEM -- it's third party.

Here is the comparison.

How can you say it's third party ? Does Dell OEM battery comes with an exclusive Waranty Card ?

The one I purchased didn't include any warranty card but seller is providing Dell Limited 90 Days Warranty and 10 Days Replacement.

The font on the label is the tip-off -- additionally the year/month field is not put on Dell batteries that way.  That three digit field is the date code -- 843 means 2008-April-3.  It could be a "refurbished" battery - or completely third party - at any rate, Dell batteries sold by Dell carry a 1-year warranty.  Your battery is through your supplier - not Dell (NO batteries carry a Dell warranty unless sold directly by Delll, in fact).

This is decidedly NOT an OEM battery (though it does use Samsung cells, at least from your descriptor).
