B130 Screen Resolution????

Just got a new Inspiron B130 not too long ago and did a fresh install with Windows XP Pro SP2 because I dont like all the junk dell throws in with there OS disks and really have no need for media center. Downloaded all the newest drivers and now the highest my screen resolution goes is 1280 by 800 pixels!!! Too me thats kind of big, I like my stuff nice and small, such as on my desktop I always use the resolution 1152 by 864. And my refresh rate only allows me to go to 60Hz. Just doesnt seem right, ive never really had a laptop before, im more of a desktop kind of guy but is this normal for laptops??? I'm almost 100% I installed all the correct drivers. Can someone let me know if I can get more resolution out of and refresh rate or am I stuck with this??? Thanks in advance...

Inspiron B130
Intel Celeron M 1.4ghz
256mb RAM (which will be upgraded soon to 1gb)
i915GMS/i910GML Intel chipset

In the display properties it says Dell E773c on Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset.

Hopefully I installed the right monitor????
Please someone help me!!!!!

Unless you upgraded the display at purchase, the resolution limit is WXGA (1280X800).

Unlike desktop displays, notebook displays work best at a native resolution, which is that one. As for refresh, that matters only for an external CRT monitor. LCD panels do not use line-refresh.
