Press F12 at powerup. Load the Dell diagnostics, and run an extended hard drive test - you will likely find the hard drive has failed.

Did you run the extended drive test - takes about two hours, or just the quick one? You MUST run the extended test - not the 10-minute quick test, which isn't definitive.
I did all the steps and no problem found.
