Backup Hard Drive Dell XPS M1530

I've got a Dell XPS M1530, it has had a bit of problems lately with it overheating to the point where it shuts down, and then it can't find the hard drive. When we got the computer we had to reinstall Windows Vista, so now I can see the RECOVERY drive, is there a way I can back this up onto a (some) DVD(s)? I want to keep it backed up just in case the laptop dies.
