Batteries for Latin America & The Caribbean

Hi,

I going to purchase a XPS M1530 and during my research, I found that Dell recommends that you only use Dell batteries in their specific laptops. However, on my country's website, there is no place for me to buy a battery directly from Dell. Does this mean that I have to call sales to purchase an additional battery or should I take the extra expense and buy the extra battery when I am buying the laptop?

in your situation I would ask myself what percentage of the time I'll be using the laptop on battery power.

if quite a bit or most of the time then get a second battery at purchase and store it around 75% charged in a cool place to help extend its life.

if you'll be on ac power almost 100% of the time then go with one battery.

fwiw I use my laptop powered by ac most of the time with the battery removed from the unit. you should only do this if you have a reliable ac supply with little or no brown outs episodes...

It is mainly for school, work and playing WOW. I am probably going to be at a desk with an outlet. I was thinking of getting the 9 cell battery because not only is it a larger battery so a longer charge but it elevates the laptop and allows for a better air flow and a better typing angle. But because of the money conversion, all prices are just over twice the amount quoted online, I am also wondering if it is worth getting the larger battery.

the 9 cell battery would be a good option for the primary battery but ask if it will protrude backwards from the laptop casing.

this is something I didn't know about with my 1520 ...

Thanks. I have seen pictures of the laptop with the 9 cell battery so I know what to expect.
