Battery D5318 problem

Question

My inspiron 6000 uses a battery type D5318 (53Wh). Two days ago, I disconnected the AC cable while the system was shutting down (ubuntu). Since then, the battery indicator flashes four times in orange and one in green. It always happen when the battery is mounted independently if I am using the AC power or not. I have removed the battery and checked its charge by pressing the test button that is in its back side. I have obtained the following blinking code: led 1 on, led 2 off, led 3 on, led 4 off, led 5 on and this is repeated three times. Is the battery dead or the problem comes from the motherboard? The sequence of LEDs that you have listed indicates that you have a bad battery and needs to be replaced.
