I have this same problem on my Latitude E6230, purchased a few months ago. It's been an ongoing problem, and I cannot find a solution to it. I've updated BIOS to latest, downloaded drivers, tried Dell System Detect (which doesn't work)... is there any help out there???

Hi,

When you connect the adapter to the computer, does the battery charge?

Check if the computer works on the battery. Disconnect the adapter and check if the computer works on battery.

Refer the following link for more troubleshooting on battery:

Hi there,

Thanks for replying.

The battery will recharge if I take the battery out, put it back in, and is then detected by my computer. The battery is fine then and lasts for hours. The problem seems to be when I reawake from sleep... sometimes (not all the time) the message pops up that the battery is undetected, and the battery light on the console (just above the keyboard) starts to flash, alternating orange and white. SOMETIMES I can restart and the battery is detected. Sometimes I restart and the battery isn't detected and I get a message before the boot into Windows telling me this (plus the flashing orange/white battery light). If I take the battery out and reinstall it, it seems to be fine.

Hi Steven,

The battery LED status above the keyboard blinks indicate Battery power is less than 10% and not recieving charge.

Try updating BIOs on the computer.

http://dell.to/122sZkr

  • During BIOS update verify that the computer is connected to an AC Adapter.
  • Disconnect any third party peripherals connected to the computer before performing BIOS update.
  • Do not turn off the computer during the BIOS update.
  • Do not restart the computer during the BIOS update.
  • Ensure battery charge is more than 30% during BIOS update.

Note: Plug your computer to a good, working UPS before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.

hi.

I already updated the bios to A09 weeks ago. Still same problem. The battery is fine. The problem seems to be when the computer wakes from sleep, it just doesn't detect the battery.

Okay, so it just happened. I woke the computer from sleep and the screenshot that is attached shows what I saw.

The battery light above the keyboard flashes orange and white.

I then plugged in the ac adapter: it says the computer is plugged in and not charging.

Looking forward to your help!

Thanks
