Battery only charges with docking station

The power adapter works with the docking station but if I plug it directly to my laptop, it will not charge the battery (even though green light is on).  How do you fix this?

It could be a damaged power jack - but you'll need a shop that can do surface mount soldering to  tell you with certainty.  The jack may the only damaged part - in which case a shop can solder in a new one.  The cost should run in the $150-200 range for competent work - it's exacting work, not a job for a hack with a handheld iron.

If the mainboard itself is cracked, that will need to be replaced - that will run about  2-2.5 times the cost of the repair.
