Beeping sound when connecting to wireless network

Hello, first time here. Just got my e1705 with Intel wireless card. Every time it connects to a wireless network, it would make a beep sound once, very annoying. How can I disable this? Thank you.

The easy way is to go into the Countrol Panel, and them Sounds and Audio, then under the Sound tab select the no sound scheme. Other wise try experimenting with the differnet sound settings to find the one to turn it off

Yup, tried that-but it still goes off. Very annoying when you're in a room with colleagues in a meeting.

Are you applying the changes? It worked for me with mine.

Yup, did that too. Yours worked huh, dang. Wish mine does. Went into Intel screen too, but nothing about turning off sound. This is ticking me off. Anyone else got idea? Come on, lot of you bought the same laptop, don't tell me you don't have this "problem" :smileywink:

Hey mate,

I've got an Inspiron 6xxx (it's not here right now!) but it does the exact same thing. Funny thing is that it is a work Laptop and we bought 4 exactly the same at the same time - only mine does that?

It also does it everytime i get a new message on MSN? Scares me to death!

I'm trying everything to sort it out but can't find anything anywhere.

I'll keep you posted.

Whew, sure glad someone else is having this problem. Hope you can find the solution, if I do, I'll let you know. Also, it's not just a quiet tone either, this thing is pretty loud.

Finally...... after reading this thread I decided to have another play around and have now sorted the problem my end!

Strangely, it was simply that I had turned off all sounds in the control panel, I restored the windows default sounds and low and behold I now get the pleasant little pop when it connects.

I still couldn't say why it is so determined to make a noise when it connects but it seems that switching windows sounds back on has got rid of the dreaded beep. (messenger too).

I hope this will be the case for you too Topper.
