Best mousepad for optical mouse?
At Best Buy I saw some mouspads that were marketed as "optical mouse mousepads." Is it really necessary to get one of these? I use a basic Dell mousepad right now with my Kensington Pocket Mouse Pro Wireless and it seems to work fine.

Yes, i agree with you.I test a IE3.0 mouse on a cd,flawless.I think the performance difference because of the firmware difference and the senser scan mode difference.
You know,Once i tried about one hundred pic of mousepad with same pattern(basic Dell mousepad),one model mouse perform good on some mousepads, and another mousegood on some other mousepads.but mousepad that all the mouse work fine is that with deep ruleless texture, dim materical,
In my opinion,I would rather use a white paper as my mouse

Ok, now go buy a mousepad with a gel surface in blue or purple and see what happens.
Stay away from the gel mousepads, especially the ones with bright colors. They will not work well with most laser mice and you will get disappearing pointers and pointers jumping into the corners and disappearing. The only way I could get my pointer to appear was to lift the mouse up off the table and then put it back down again.
This is just a simple mousepad conflict and nothing more. Stay away from Gel and go with dark cloth.

Very impressive (if you can get it to work) the Microsoft Optical Wheelmouse is the only mouse I could never get to work on my Inspiron 8200 - and no answers from Dell.....
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
