Blank Screen on Restart
I have a Inspiron 1545 and when I restart with a Verizon wireless modem pluged in to a USB port it gives me a blank screen with a cursor blinking in the top left corner. When I pull it out on restart it boots. However, when I start it with it pluged in it works fine. I know the problem is my computer because my wife has the same 1545 and no problem. I can work around by pulling it on restart but it seems my computer has a problem.
Any Ideas? & thanks

Its solved. Since I bought my computer from Costco I called their Conceire service. He told me to force a shut down by holding down on the power on button, unplug all USB externals, unplug the AC power supply, take out the battery, and wait awhile. Then start the computer, plug everthing back in and then do a restart. Now no USB conflict.

Go into the BIOS setup and make sure that the USB boot option is disabled (i.e., there's no USB in the list of boot devices).
F2 at powerup.

I tried that and it still did the same. I assume you meant uncheck the box for USB in the boot sequence list.
Thanks

Upon further testing it is not the verizon wireless modem only that hanges up Restart. It is the fact I have 2 modems pluged in. The other is a wireless Logitech mouse. When I take either out restart works. So with both pluged in Restart goes to a blank screen & when I only have one of them pluged in Restart works.
Any ideas on what is happening? Thanks
