BluRay HDMI output issue
I must say I am extremely unhappy with the "dell support". I have tried for hours to hook up my XPS bluray to my Sony SXRD via HDMI. I can use the TV as a monitor. I can even play regular DVDs through the laptop and view them on the TV. But when I try to play the bluray discs I get a graphic incompatibility error. The bluray works fine on the PC but wont let me play them on an outside monitor. Is it media direct? I have tried it on every TV in the house and it doesnt work so it cant be the TV like Dell told me. Please help.

I use a VGA connection from my PC to plasma, and with PowerDVD Ultra the results have been very good.

Try running the Blu-Ray & HD DVD Advisor utility, available here; http://www.cyberlink.com/english/support/bdhd_support/diagnosis.jsp
If you get a red light on any of the items, it may indicate that your system is not capable of running high definition media.
If anything in your "video chain" is not HDCP compliant, this may be causing the issue. If that's the case, then a VGA connection, if available in your set-up, might resolve it.
Also, if you're running a modded .inf driver, that could also be causing problems. Even WHQL signed drivers (modded) seem to cause problems for Blu-Ray and HD DVD playback.
Hope this is of some help.

For whatever reason...you can't play the bluray as a dual monitor (PC and the TV). Therefore you must shut off the PC screen and use the TV as a monitor. First...use your HDMI output and hook it into the TV's HDMI. Obviously make sure your TV input is on the HDMI setting. Next press start and control panel and then into your NVIDIA control panel. Your PC should recognize your TV and give you an option the in the drop down box to select TV only monitor option. Select it and have fun with your new bluray player. I really hope that helps. Let us know if that solves your issue. :)

DocLogic77 or Anyone,
I have the exact same problem. Did you mean you can only set the new Dell on External viewing OR Laptopviewing? Not try to view the BLu Ray movie on the laptop AND the Plasma at the same time?
If so how is this done? I have read pressing Fn+F7 at the same time - is this correct?

I have done everthing you suggested.
I checked your post 2 times to be sure.
#1 Hooked up HDMI to Panasonic Via Input #2 HDMI
#2 Open Nvidia and it DOES show the Panasnic as an option
#3 Select only one display panasonic
#4 have Blu Ray Silver surfing runnig in background
#5 Laptop screen goes blank but hear movie (Tried with out as well)
What am i missing?
Already downloaded Dell Mediadirect update 2 times and installed.
Each time i look for updates the same one is suggested.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance

Wow...it sounds like you did everything right. I do have a problem with one of my TVs. Are you sure you have selected the TV input to be on the HDMI input? Also I run with Cyberlink power DVD...not sure if that makes a difference. The sound will come out through the PC not the TV so that sounds right. If you are not getting an error message I would be the issue is with the TV. That's all I have for ya.

I finally got it working. Can't say i am sure why. Several resarts and reinstalls later.
Had an issue with the sound not working. You have to go into sound on control panel and switch to HDMI from the laptop's speakers. This wason my Dell anyway. Until i did that i had NO sound on my Panasonic Plasma.
The Dell Media center program stinks. It constantly freezes up or "tries to run" but get hanging on nothing. I will be looking for a patch or more importantly a new program to replace it. I am very dissatisfied with the dell media center program.

Thats very good to hear. That speaker suggestion helps me out...thanks I will try that. As for the Dell Media...it bites. Its why I run with Cyberlink DVD. It was well worth the $$$.
