Bluetooth Headset Compatibility Question

I have the XPS M1210 with the internal 350 (2.0 + EDR) Bluetooth Module (Toshiba) and I just purchased the Creative Labs Bluetooth Headset SL3100 Wireless Headphones A0773770, the link is Here and I was wonder is this compatible with my current internal module? I know it comes with a receiver so I guess its not a total loss if they are not.  Thanks for the info.

I'm able to pair my Creative SL3100 Bluetooth headset to my XPS' Bluetooth card, and Windows (Vista) shows it connected, but I'm unable to hear sound in the headset. Under Devices, the SL3100 shows "Enabled" and under Audio, the SL3100 shows "Connected." And the Passkey is enabled, so I have no idea why there's no sound in the headset... so not sure if the Creative SL3100 really is compatible with the XPS' Bluetooth card as a stand-alone Bluetooth connection (without the adapter).

I have the same problem with my XPS M1210 and a Motorola HT820 Stereo Headset.  I even went to the trouble of downgrading Bluetooth to Widcomm 5.1.1.1100, per the instructions found on another forum.  Following that the unit paired and operated exactly the same as with the original Bluetooth drivers.

I am now wondering about the SigmaTel audio drivers.  If you do a Google of - Vista and SigmaTel Audio Problems on Dell - you get about 20,000 hits about this on Google.Ca.  The only recommendation that makes sense to me is to install the Intel version of the driver to see if that helps per this post on another forum.

Am i correct in assuming your desktop has an Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX2 or similar model?  If so try installing the Intel version of the drivers http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df...ms&lang=eng this may help....

I am not very familiar with Gateway machines or Intel boards for that matter however i did a little legwork for you and this is what i came up with hope it works.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks

Ok, I dont know about the motorola set but the SL3100 does work with my internal bluetooth adapter. Jjey, you need to disable the passkey function and try disconnecting and reconnect the device without the passkey. Additionally, I found that the headset has to be the last device you connect to your bluetooth module, assuming you are using other bluetooth devices. If I connect it first then my mouse, I found that the headset will disconnect. If you have anymore issues, or that does not work, please post here again so we can troubleshoot it further. Thanks and good luck!

Thanks for the replies - I've tried to reinstall the SigmaTel driver, I've disabled the passkey, and I've configured and re-configured everything that could possibly be manipulated in the Bluetooth settings, but still no sound in the Creative SL3100's headphones, even though the Bluetooth Device Properties box shows that it is indeed connected.

In fact, I have yet to have ANY Bluetooth device function with my XPS M1210's Bluetooth card, even though they show up as successfully connected in the Device Manager. Go figure... (I did the old standard operating procedure of restarting Windows Vista as well after each configuration - no luck as it were!)

I did an extensive search on Creative's Forums, but alas, there is no solution presented there. Although it's not a total loss as the Bluetooth adapter that came with my Creative SL3100 allows the headphones to work, as long as the adapter is of course plugged into the headset jack of the laptop. I think I'm just annoyed that I can't get a Bluetooth headset to actually operate in sync with a Bluetooth card! Oh well... Well, there's still a little light at the end of the tunnel, as mhuff can get his SL3100 to connect, then I'm sure I will eventually find a way as well...

I've tried everything I can think of and everything suggested here but can't get the HT820 to work.  Also, how do you disable the passkey?  If I select not to use a passkey on the installation, the MT820 actually never pairs.

The 820 also works fine if I plug it into one of the headset plugs, but that is not Bluetooth!

Okay, problem solved...

I used mhuff84's and JK's advice and did the following:

I reinstalled both the SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio (from the Dell Support page under R122161.EXE) and the Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module (Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR driver) also from the Dell Support page under R127314.EXE.

Then, under Bluetooth setup, I asked the Bluetooth Device Manager to add the Creative SL3100 after turning on the headset. As mhuff84 said, I selected the Do Not Use A Passkey and proceeded with the device setup. I then connected the device under the Audio tab as in previous sessions. Only this time, it finally worked!

Thanks for the advice and help, fellas.

All seems good to go now.
