Broken Headphone Jack

I have a Studio XPS 1645, which has two output jacks for headphones, thankfully.  One of the jacks has been damaged, from a rough pull out of headphones i think.  The jack is loose and always thinks there are headphones in, therefore my speakers wont play.  Since i have another headphone jack I can still plug my speakers into my computer and listen to music etc. but it is inconvenient.  What possible fixes are there that will enable me to use my laptop speakers again?

Your model has a replaceable headphone jack circuit board that you can replace. See section lV of the Headphone Jack FAQ for details about getting the part. You can download a service manual from Dell that shows how to dismantle the laptop to do the repair.

Also section V of the FAQ has a software workaround that ought to work for your model.
