C400 Battery doesn't charge!!!!!! HELP PLEASE!!
HELP PLEASE!!!
Hi, I owned a 2nd hand C400 last week, and it seems that battery doesn't charge. When i use it with the AC adaptor it runs perfectly, but when i put the battery to charge, the batt led flashes in orange...fast, and sometimes i can see a green flash. I have seen in the BIOS the page of the battery state....it's at 4%, and when i connect it to charge...the message changes to: Discharging...Idle...Discharging....Idle...and sometimes...Charging, but the level doesn't change.
I have read in the users guide that this led flashes indicates defectuous battery but i also read that it can be an error on the motherboard, in the carging module... Changing the battery...it will run? In fact...a motherboard reparation...it's expensive?
Well, sorry about my english...and thanks for all, i hope you will give me a hopeness answer.
Marc.
PD: If the charging module fails...is there any external battery charger to buy it? I haven't found it on the web.

Hi,
Your battery is most likey faulty. The charger is on the motherboard, you can get one for around $220. The battery will be less. If the test button on the battery causes a strange LED display, that is more proof.

Hi,
I dont think the C400 has a seperate charger card like other models. If you go to the product support tab above, there should be a service manual. If you decide to change the motherboard, be aware that the CPU is not removeable, so get the correct speed for a replacement. There is a different part number for different speeds, 866M 1G and 1.3G are common. The board I mentioned is 866 meg. The supplier is Parts-people.
