What if you swap the batteries - does that bay then recognize the battery?

This is how I corrected the "battery not recognized" problem with my Dell Latitude CPi laptop......

1. Jumped up and down 3 times
2. Screamed at the computer for 5 minutes.
3. Ordered, received and installed a replacement battery -which did not work!
4. Screamed at the battery supplier - who sent a replacement battery - which did not work!
5. Checked the Dell web site for help - which did not work!
6. Updated my BIOS and Jumped up and down 4 times while holding my left foot in the air.
7. Turned the laptop over and tightened all of the phillips head screws that I could see.

My battery is recognized and it works and it is charging.... and I am happy!!!!!!

Just one additional note, I think that you can skip the first 6 steps that I listed above.
The philips head screw in the center of the bottom (under the spacebar) is a ground for the motherboard.... and when not making contact, does not allow the battery to be recognized, charged or power the laptop......

Sad!   I discarded my other battery - and I now believe that it was fine.  I recommend that Dell apply Loctite to the screws in their laptops!!
