Can you see ANY image AT ALL on the LCD? If you get up really close? beca8se if you cant, then a new CCFL wont help you, because the LCD isn't displaying anything.
Yes, I can see images in the background. For example, if there is sunlight coming through the window, I can see the "desktop". When I first boot up, the display is orange in color, then goes black.
Thanks for the link. I really think the backside of the LCD on the Inspiron is much different than the Lattitude though. In fact, not much looked similar at all. Is there anyone who can tell me if the tube runs along the bottom of the LCD or is it in the center. I am asking because there are wires running into the bottom as well as to a "plug" in the center. Sorry if I sound like an airhead, just don't wanna be pulling things apart that I don't need to.
Actually, that is exactly where I looked. The problem being, I don't know how to locate the back lamp. I had the entire display apart to change the LCD flex cable, but did not see the CCFL. Where is it??
did you contact dell about what model no. for the CCFL lamp you needed first? my inspiron 7500 is no longer under warranty and i've been procrastinating for a couple months about taking the screen apart.... i'm a bit scared since a friend told me even the dell techs messed up his screen when they opened it up: a couple of specks of dust got caught and now when the screen goes black you can see a few pixels missing where the specks fell.
have you successfully replaced your bulb? did JKL corp. help you with the model # etc.
sorry for all the questions but i'm a neophyte at this.
i figure, my 7500 model is old but still works fine, the screen is just a bit dim (guessing i need a new lamp).
I have contacted Dell a few times and because my warranty has also run out, they were less than willing to help out or offer any info. I did email JKLamps with my model number, etc and all they did was send me a diagram showing where to find the model number on the lamp. I am not afraid to take the monitor apart, but really prefer to have to do it once, if you know what I mean. I have an 8100 and my lamps blew out 2 months after my extended warranty expired... go figure!
