CPU Comparison P3 vs Celeron
Hi,
I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1100 w/ 2.4 Celeron CPU 640MB RAM. I recently received (hasn't arrived yet) Dell Inspiron 4000 w/ P3 800MHz mobile CPU and 512MB ram. I would like to know if there is a big performance difference between the two machines?

From the basic specs that you have provided. The Celeron based laptop should win hands down. Despite the fact that you are comparing P3 VS Celeron, the massive difference in clock speed can't be compensated for. 1.6 GHz clock difference will be amazing. If it were around 0.5 GHz difference, it would be a harder decision to make.
Also, If I am correct about the specs, the Celeron should be running a 400 MHz FSB. The Older P3 may be running a 100/133 FSB. that will also make a very dramatic difference in performance. Once you get it, test them out. It would be interesting to see how they do on a Sandra Benchmark.
