CPU upgrade

I recently read on some forums and on PCworld.com that it is possible to upgrade from a Core duo to a Core 2 duo if you have the correct chipset.

I would like to know if it possible on a inspiron 6400 with a Mobile Intel(R) 945PM Express Chipset to upgrade from a core duo T2500 to a Core 2 duo T7200

No. Dell won't support a CPU upgrade. You can have a local shop do the job.

Note that at the same speed grade, you'll see only a 10% or so boost for a Core 2 over a Core CPU, so it'll be a very modest (and at the high end of the speed scale, a VERY pricey) upgrade.

You're on your own there again; Dell won't upgrade. The cards are Dell-only parts.

Will an A05 BIOS Lattitude D620 take a Core 2 Duo chip?

What happens to battery usage with such an upgrade? Better, worse or the same?

It should, yes. At the same speed, I'd expect battery life to be the same. If you install a faster processor, it'll consume more power and drain the battery more quickly.

Assuming that I have a Inspiron 6400 and a 945PM (I suppose) then can I replace my old Core duo by this CPU:

That was my last question thanks for answering me ejn63.

Yes. That said, I doubt you'll see $420 worth of performance increase from the new CPU.
