Cannot access system restore?
I have had my Inspiron 1510 for 10 days. Yesterday it refused to boot up and I cannot access the restore menu using f8. To get me back working I have installed a seperate copy of Windows. My question is - how do I get my factory installed system back please?
As an aside my service tag will not register on Dell Europe saying it was bought outside the UK. I bought it from the factory outlet?
TIA

Tap F8 repeatedly when powering up? This will give you the Vista/7 recovery menu. (Black screen with white writing). Select repair my computer, then select language and the select the Dell DataSafe/Dell Factory restore option.
However likely the option is gone as you have installed a separate version of windows. In this case follow my guide for instructions to reinstall WIndows 7 from scratch using your Dell Product Key. I recommend backing up all data on the external hard drive and setting up/formatting the partitions under advanced drive options opposed to trying to salvage from windows.old in your case.
